    About the Library

The library contains over 8,000 volumes, a class set of Google Chrome Notebooks with internet and database access, and research accessibility.  The library houses all of the school's computer carts, which are used daily by the faculty and students.  The librarian, Mrs. Johnson, is available during the school day as well as before and after school to assist with any reference needs or aid in the selection of materials for recreational reading.  All students are welcome to use the library when their schedule permits.

Over 40 current periodicals are available for use in the library.  The library also subscribes to Gale databases, Scholastic Scope and Math, NY Times Upfront, Science, Oxford English Dictionary, and the Institute for Career Research.  All students have access to the online and text resources available.  The resources in the library are selected to be closely coordinated with the school curriculum, providing strong support for each field of instruction and offering a diverse range of recreational reading material.  Additional materials are available through Illinois Heartland Library System Share, of which RTHS is a member.

Students may borrow books from the circulating collection for a period of two weeks.  Books on reserve may be checked out overnight.  The reference collection must be used in the library.  Upon administrative approval, a student is allowed to check out a computer for home use.  Wi-fi is not provided for those devices.

There are multiple book club options students may join.  Books for these clubs are provided by the school, and approved by the librarian and administration.  These book clubs may be joined at any time.  The librarian can provide additional information about book clubs.
